Black Friday is an event that kicks off the holiday shopping season. Black Friday started on September 24,1869, due to the crash on gold prices. Two Wall Street financiers bought as much gold as possible to drive up prices and sell it for a large profit.
Cyber Monday kicks off online holiday shopping encouraging people to shop online. Cyber Monday is a marketing tactic used to increase online sales. Cyber Monday increases online sales by 77 percent. Cyber Monday is the biggest online shopping day in the U.S.A.
Some people may prefer Black Friday over Cyber Monday because Black Friday is a better time to buy big ticket items. More Black Friday sales will be online this year due to covid. Shoppers prefer Black Friday for the experience. They like waiting in line and searching through shelves to get their deals.
On Cyber Monday there is no waiting in lines or searching through an endless sea of shelves. Cyber Monday may be preferred because you can get great deals by just staying at home and hitting buy. One difference is that Cyber Monday is a better time to buy electronics and small items.
Both Black Friday and Cyber Monday will be different this year due to covid. Black Friday may be largely online and buyers will need a face masks in most stores. Some stores will be enforcing capacity control to only allow a certain number of shoppers in at a time. Cyber Monday will most likely have increased sales due to covid.
