It’s Halloween, and you know what that means…blood. Lots of it. Ha, just kidding. Okay, to the point of this article. On Wednesday, November 6th the Red Cross will be at the high school conducting the annual blood drive. If you wish to participate, there are some requirements. First and foremost, you have to be at least 16 to donate blood. Anyone is 16 and wants to give blood must get a parent permission form from Mrs. E beforehand. As for anyone 17 and up, you are free to donate without a signed form. All donors will receive a free t-shirt to showcase their generosity concerning their blood. Some tips from American Red Cross before you donate include fueling your body with plenty of iron and make sure you get plenty of sleep. To get a healthy dose of iron you can eat foods such as red meat, fish, poultry, broccoli, and spinach. Sleeping well will help prepare you for the taxation loss of blood will have on your body.
